Hamas: Continued killing of women and children in Gaza escalates genocide, undermines ceasefire

In a statement, Qassem said the silence of the Peace Council and its institutions, as well as its failure to clearly identify Zionist regime as the party undermining the ceasefire agreement, was unacceptable and could not continue.

He warned that attempts by the Peace Council, Mladenov and the US mediator to justify Zionist regime’s violations, while considering the upcoming Israeli elections in their response, would provide cover for further attacks and undermine the ceasefire agreement.

Qassem called on Arab and Islamic countries participating in the Peace Council to take a clear and practical position on Israel’s continuing attacks and violations, saying the council had failed to stop them despite clear Palestinian adherence to the ceasefire agreement.

On the ground, the Zionist regime’s occupation army has continued its violations of the ceasefire for the 347th day since the truce was declared in October 2025, despite understandings reached in July 2026 regarding the implementation of the second phase of the agreement.

According to the figures cited, 1,394 Palestinians have been martyred and 4,839 others injured since the ceasefire took effect.

On Monday, Zionist regime’s forces intensified artillery shelling and tank and military-vehicle fire in eastern and southern Gaza. Israeli warplanes also carried out airstrikes on residential buildings in the northeastern Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, killing and injuring a number of Palestinians, including women and children.

The developments come amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire and growing warnings that attacks on civilians could further undermine the understandings intended to consolidate the truce and protect Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
