Zionist regime’s forces intensify attacks in southern Lebanon, shell Beit Jinn in southern Syria
Israeli forces have ramped up attacks targeting homes and civilian infrastructure in southern Lebanon, and separately shelled the vicinity of Beit Jinn village in the Damascus countryside of southern Syria.
According to Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA), more than 30 explosions were reported in the southern Lebanese town of al-Mansouri from late Friday through Saturday as Israeli strikes hit the area.
Several homes were devastated as a drone released containers filled with highly explosive substances over the town.
Israeli warplanes targeted regions in the Tyre, Nabatieh, Bint Jbeil, and Marjayoun districts of southern Lebanon, while Israeli forces conducted explosions and artillery bombardments.
In the Khiyam region, a powerful explosion shattered windows in surrounding towns, while a drone released explosive materials onto residences, igniting a fire.
There were no immediate reports of possible casualties from Saturday’s attacks.
Israeli tanks also advanced into areas in southern Lebanon, which lie close to the border with the Israeli-occupied territories, while Israeli forces carried out explosions and artillery attacks on the village of Arnoun and the Wadi Saluki stream area.
Israeli assaults in Lebanon have killed nearly 4,400 individuals and left 12,500 others injured since March 2, as reported by the official Lebanese figures.
Israel continues to occupy areas in southern Lebanon, including territory held for decades and others seized during recent wars and military offensives.
Elsewhere in southern Syria, Israeli forces struck the periphery of Beit Jinn with an artillery shell, which landed on agricultural land west of the town.
The Zionist regime’s military has repeatedly targeted Beit Jinn and its surroundings.
On August 22, an Israeli drone targeted a civilian vehicle on the Beit Jinn road, resulting in injuries. Subsequently, the UN Disengagement Observer Force visited the site to assess the impact of the strike.
Also, in a late development on Saturday, Zionist regime’s forces opened fire on residential properties in the town of Maariya, which is situated in the western Dara’a countryside. No details on casualties or damage were quickly available.
Since the downfall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government in December 2024, regions in southern Syria have experienced numerous Zionist regime’s incursions and military offensives.
