Hamas Political Bureau chief Khalil Al-Hayya met on Monday evening in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, with leaders and representatives of Palestinian forces and factions to discuss the latest political and field developments, as well as the outcome of recent meetings with the Egyptian leadership, mediators, and guarantors in the city of Alamein.

During the meeting, Al-Hayya reviewed details of the latest consultations, briefing participants on the positions of the various parties and developments following the announcement of approval of the roadmap for implementing the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

The participants held Israel responsible for obstructing implementation of the roadmap, citing its rejection of the understandings, failure to fulfill its commitments under the first phase, and continued daily violations in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank.

The participants also discussed the ongoing Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank, including settlement expansion, Judaization efforts, and settler attacks, as well as the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. They discussed ways to halt the escalation and protect the Palestinian people from becoming victims of political maneuvering and Israel’s election campaigning.

The participants stressed the need to intensify efforts to provide relief to Palestinians, strengthen their resilience, ensure the basic requirements for a dignified life, and accelerate recovery and reconstruction efforts, paving the way for the Palestinian people to achieve their rights and national aspirations in their homeland.

They also emphasized the importance of taking serious steps to put the Palestinian house in order based on national and democratic partnership and to formulate a unified national strategy for confronting the current challenges.

The participants called for practical mechanisms to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
