Hamas urges Trump to pressure Israel to halt Gaza ceasefire violations

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem on Thursday called on US President Donald Trump to pressure the Zionist regime’s government to stop its ongoing violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement to allow the implementation of the remaining components of the plan to end the war.

In a press statement, Qassem said that Trump’s remarks regarding Hamas’s full commitment to the ceasefire were “a positive position” and reflected the Movement’s seriousness in implementing the agreement aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

Trump announced a 20-point plan on September 29, 2025, aimed at ending the war on Gaza. The proposal included the release of Israeli captives, the disarmament of Hamas, a phased Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the formation of a technocratic government, and the deployment of an international stabilization force.

The first phase of the plan entered into effect on October 10, 2025. Hamas has repeatedly said that it remains committed to the agreement’s requirements, while accusing Israel of failing to uphold its obligations, continuing violations, and obstructing progress toward the second phase.

Although Trump announced the launch of the agreement’s second phase in mid-January, disagreements reportedly remain over how key provisions should be implemented, particularly those related to an Israeli withdrawal, reconstruction efforts, and the future of Palestinian weapons.

The ceasefire agreement was reached after two years of Zionist regime’s war on Gaza that began on October 8, 2023. According to Palestinian official figures, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been martyred and over 173,000 injured, the majority of them women and children, while approximately 90 percent of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed.
