IRGC aerospace commander: We will turn region into hell for those making Strait of Hormuz insecure
The commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) aerospace force has issued a strongly worded warning to the United States, vowing to turn the region into "hell" if Washington continues to threaten the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
"Are you trying to make the holy Strait of Hormuz insecure?" Brigadier General Sayed Majid Mousavi said in a social media post in the early hours of Thursday.
"We will turn the region into hell for you from across all of Iran. This is Iran's response to the Americans' audacity in the region, God willing."
His warning came hours after the US military carried out a fresh act of aggression against the Islamic Republic, targeting multiple cities in southern Iran.
In response, Iran's top military command announced the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint through which roughly one-fifth of global petroleum passes.
In a separate statement, the IRGC Navy warned that any vessel approaching the strategic waterway would face decisive action.
It further warned all oil tankers and commercial vessels currently operating in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman not to leave their anchorages.
Meanwhile, in response to the latest aggression, IRGC aerospace and naval divisions carried out coordinated attacks on 18 American military targets across the region.
Iran had previously warned the US and its allies against resorting to military adventurism, a warning issued amid a stalemate over negotiations to end the third imposed war.
The third war of aggression against Iran was launched by the US-Israeli coalition on February 28, prompting Iran to respond forcefully by targeting US bases across the region.
