Al-Barsh: Israel continues to commit mutilation crimes against bodies in Gaza
Munir Al-Barsh, Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, announced on Monday that Zionist regime’s occupation authorities returned 45 bodies of Palestinian martyrs, bringing the total number of bodies recovered to 270 since the process of retrieving remains began.
In media statements, Al-Barsh revealed that the condition of the recovered bodies shows horrific crimes committed against the victims. “Their bodies were brutally killed and mutilated,” he said. “Their faces were burned to conceal their identities, and their internal organs were savagely torn apart.”
He strongly condemned Israel’s practices, stating: “These bodies were not silent, they speak for the land they loved and the homeland they believed in until their final breath.”
He added, questioning: “How can those who kill also desecrate what remains of the victim’s humanity? And how can those who claim to uphold justice and law remain silent in the face of such horrors?”
Regarding the international silence on these violations, Al-Barsh criticized human rights organizations and international courts, asking, “Where are those who claim to defend humanity?”
He affirmed that these bodies will remain a testament to the global complicity and disgraceful silence in the face of Israeli crimes. “These pure bodies stand as witnesses to global hypocrisy and a so-called civilization that claims mercy while drowning in silence and complicity,” he said.
Earlier on the same day, the International Committee of the Red Cross received the seventh batch of Palestinian martyrs’ remains, comprising 45 bodies that had been withheld by Israeli forces during their war on the Gaza Strip.
The Ministry of Health confirmed that medical teams and families of the martyrs are facing immense challenges in identifying the bodies due to the extreme mutilation, torture, and abuse, with clear signs of brutal treatment visible on the remains.
In a previous statement, Al-Barsh had revealed that Israeli forces had also harvested organs from some of the martyrs’ bodies they detained. He confirmed that the condition of the bodies had shocked the Health Ministry teams.
