Palestinian factions, rights groups blame Israel and US for violating the ceasefire

Palestinian factions have condemned on Wednesday what they described as Zionist regime’s grave violation of the recently signed Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire, following overnight airstrikes that killed at least 91 people across the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, Hamas called the Zionist regime’s bombing a “criminal act” and “a blatant attempt to sabotage the agreement,” saying the strikes extended a pattern of daily violations that have left dozens of civilians martyrs and the Rafah crossing closed.

The Movement urged mediators to “act immediately to restrain Israeli aggression and compel full compliance with the ceasefire terms.”

Medical sources reported that the attacks martyred 31 people in northern Gaza, 42 in the central region, and 18 in Khan Yunis, warning that the toll may rise as rescue efforts continue. IOF aircraft, tanks, and gunboats reportedly struck densely populated areas and the coast of Rafah.

The Islamic Jihad’s spokesperson, Mohammad al-Hajj Mousa, said the strikes targeted civilian tents and residential zones, calling the attack a “clear breach” of the ceasefire. He accused the occupation of using “false pretexts” to justify ongoing assassinations and demanded that the US stop “shielding Israel from accountability.”

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) also held the US fully responsible for the “horrific massacres” committed by Israel, which it said killed dozens of civilians including 24 children.

The group said that recent comments by US president Donald Trump, defending Israel’s actions as “self-defense”, amounted to political cover for continued atrocities.

The PFLP urged international mediators to act swiftly to halt the “killing frenzy” and to ensure unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. It also called on global civil society to intensify protests and push for Israeli leaders to be prosecuted as war criminals.

Meanwhile, the Gaza-based Human Rights Center strongly condemned the attacks, which it said killed 100 people, including 35 children, over just 12 hours, describing them as “acts of collective punishment and genocide.”

The center documented 197 Israeli attacks since the ceasefire took effect on October 10, resulting in 194 deaths, including nearly 60 children, and about 500 injuries. It called on the International Criminal Court and UN investigators to include the latest strikes in ongoing war crimes probes, urging the international community to end Israel’s “culture of impunity.”

The center stressed that “protecting civilians requires a complete cessation of aggression” and full respect for international humanitarian law.
