Journalist Islam al-Komi martyred, rising the martyr toll of journalists in Gaza to 239
The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza announced on Tuesday that the number of journalists martyred since the beginning of the Zionist regime’s genocide in the Gaza Strip has risen to 239, following the martyrdom of journalist Islam al-Komi, who worked as an editor and content creator for several media platforms.
In a strongly worded statement, the GMO condemned the Israeli systematic targeting, killing, and assassination of Palestinian journalists. It urged the International Federation of Journalists, the Arab Journalists Union, and media bodies around the world to denounce these crimes against Palestinian reporters and media workers in Gaza.
The statement held Zionist regime, the US administration, and other states complicit in the genocide, including the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, fully responsible for such “heinous and barbaric crimes.”
It also called on the international community, press freedom organizations, and professional unions worldwide to condemn Israel’s ongoing crimes, prosecute its leaders before international courts, and take effective action to stop the genocide.
The GMO stressed the urgent need to protect Palestinian journalists from continued killings and assassinations in the Gaza Strip.
