Gaza health ministry: Ongoing threats could shut down remaining hospitals

The health ministry in Gaza has warned that repeated threats of evacuation and bombardment around hospitals are causing severe disruption to the work of medical teams and may lead to the complete shutdown of the few remaining functional healthcare facilities, amid a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian and health situation in the Strip.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said that medical staff, patients, and the wounded are suffering due to the lack of safe corridors to reach hospitals, placing their lives at risk and hindering the provision of emergency medical care.
The statement added that specialized health services provided at the few remaining hospitals are under a suffocating blockade and facing a critical shortage of medical supplies, threatening a total collapse at any moment.
The ministry pointed out that Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza, is the only remaining major medical center serving hundreds of patients and wounded individuals. It warned that its shutdown would constitute a catastrophic health disaster with unimaginable consequences.
The health ministry stressed that time has run out for further delays or reliance on temporary interventions that fail to meet even the minimum requirements of emergency and routine healthcare. It called for immediate and effective international action.
The ministry also warned against the Zionist regime’s occupation’s disregard for the demands and initiatives of international organizations working to secure medical supplies, protect health facilities, and ensure safe passage for patients, the wounded, and medical teams.
