Hamas: Israel’s announcement of new Gaza settlements shows contempt for international law
The Hamas Movement said Tuesday that Zionist regime’s Army Minister Israel Katz’s announcement of plans to establish three new settlement outposts in northern Gaza demonstrates “contempt for international law” and United Nations resolutions and reflects Zionist regime’s continued efforts to impose new realities on the ground.
In a press statement, Hamas said the announcement once again reveals the Israeli government’s policy of displacement and ethnic cleansing, arguing that it underscores Israel’s determination to pursue its plans in the Palestinian territories.
In a separate statement, Hamas said, “What the criminal occupation’s war minister, Israel Katz, announced regarding his intention to establish three settlement outposts in northern Gaza once again exposes the mindset of displacement and ethnic cleansing that governs the leaders of the criminal Zionist entity. It shows that the occupation is pressing ahead with its plans to Judaize Palestinian land, in blatant disregard and contempt for international law and international legitimacy.”
Hamas called on the mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement, including the US administration, to fulfill their responsibilities and take immediate action to stop Israel’s expansionist policies and prevent them from being imposed by force.
The Movement also said that Katz’s reported remarks expressing satisfaction with the destruction in the Gaza Strip constitute, in its view, evidence of premeditated intent to commit genocide. Hamas called on the International Criminal Court and other competent judicial bodies to initiate legal proceedings against Katz and other Israeli officials.
