Parliament speaker says enemies sought to disintegrate Iran

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf says Iran’s enemies sought to disintegrate the country by fueling recent unrest across the nation.

Addressing a large crowd of citizens who had rallied in downtown Tehran on Monday to show their protest to days of deadly foreign-backed riots across the country, Qalibaf said the presence of people thwarted the enmity of the US and the Israeli regime against the Iranian nation.

Qalibaf also touched upon the US-Israeli aggression against Iran in June, saying they cannot tolerate “an independent, strong Iran”. He said the Zionist regime does not allow any Muslim country to get strong, citing its approach toward Qatar, Syria, Lebanon and other Islamic nations.

The enemy, the Parliament speaker said, thought it could undermine the unity of the Iranian nation by military invasion, a miscalculation they repeated in their attempt to create chaos through violent riots in the country.

“When the enemies noticed they could get nowhere [through invading Iran], they focused their efforts on igniting a civil war,” Qalibaf noted. “With this crowd now present at the scene, the Iranian nation showed that the enemies’ decisions and analyses were wrong.”

On US threats to attack Iran, he said that in case of an attack, all the US interests in the region will “burn in the fire of the Iranian nation”.
